Naturally gifted and artistically inclined since childhood; Fiorella’s passion for art and color has been the driving force in her continued efforts to experiment with paints and any other materials she could get her hands on.
It also led her to extensive studies in all forms of art, art history and color theory. These combinations would become the foundations of her fabulous use of color, skilled detailing and adaptable ease to switching or combining different materials.
Her second interest being in business and marketing, led her to study and graduate from Sheridan College in Visual Merchandising Arts. Mixing the best of both worlds; she began a successful career in marketing and promotions through window display and merchandising design.
After five years, her experience and reputable creative skill gained her a position in the Head Office of a large corporate chain. As the business world changed, she began to feel the strain of slowly losing the ability to flex her creative muscles.
After a few years, Fiorella took a giant leap back to regain her artistic roots. She enrolled in full time classes at the Dundas Valley School of Arts. She decided to take everything under the sun so that she could get her creative juices flowing again. At the same time, Fiorella worked part-time painting and renovating homes with friends in trades, to pick up new skills, while enjoying the fruits of physical labour. She struggled to find a new career where she could make an honest living and exercise her artistic abilities to the fullest extent. It was then, while renovating, she encountered a faux finisher applying a plaster finish to one of the rooms. This was love at first site for her. At that moment, Master Plaster was born.
Since then, Fiorella has continued to spend most of her spare time researching and sampling decorative finishing materials, in order to get a feel for their application abilities, textures and durability.
She takes a hands on experience approach to learning about materials and their application techniques by training with experienced people in the business; for example; FAUX DEPOT Studio’s at the TEXTURLINE Decorative Finishes office and plant. These plaster masterminds are the creators and manufacturers of Strip Fx and practically all the other materials used by Master Plaster. She has also received skilled training in the art of concrete skim coats, tinting and acid staining with SMOOTHCRETE; a company with over twenty years in the decorative concrete business.
